Flying Frenchmen

In the mid-1950s the Port Neches Indians possessed one of the most dynamic offensive backfields in Southeast Texas football history. 

Known as "The Flying Frenchmen", running backs Gordon LeBoeuf and Bobby LaBorde led the Indians to three straight state final appearances from 1953 to 1955 including two state championships in '53 and '55.

Also known as "The Touchdown Twins", the two combined for 7,987 rushing yards and 78 touchdowns during their high school careers.

LaBorde ran for 3,193 yards and scored 29 touchdowns. He was selected to the 1954 and 1955 All-State teams and went on to play college football with the Rice Owls. 

An all-state selection as a sophomore, junior and senior, LeBoeuf finished his high school career with 4,794 yards and 49 touchdowns.  He led the state in rushing in 1955 with 2,150 yards and was selected to the high school All-American team.  LeBoeuf played football for Bear Bryant at Texas A&M and is mentioned in the book "The Junction Boys".  He was drafted by the New York Titans in the 1960 AFL draft.

Gordon LeBoeuf and Bobby LaBorde, "The Flying Frenchmen", will forever stand out as one of the most talented and exciting running back combinations in Southeast Texas football history.
