School Spirit

Wikipedia defines it as, “… emotional support for one’s educational institution. This can apply to any type of school, from elementary schools to universities. It can be manifested in the exhibition of school colors in dress and decoration, attendance of athletic events, or verbally in the form of chants or cheers.

Of course every school possesses spirit.  But ask anyone who has attended Port Neches-Groves High School, or witnessed any event involving students and fans, and they might just say there is a different intensity and emotional charge at a PN-G event, especially football pep rallies and games.

Very few high schools can attract 20,000-30,000 fans to a football game as evidenced many times through school history.  PN-G arguably possesses the most loyal and enduring school spirit of any high school, and quite a few colleges.

Wikipedia defines it as emotional support, PN-G alumni and fans refer to is as ‘Indian Spirit’.   Others recognize and admire it, bitter rivals often demonstrate complete disrespect and ridicule it.

Regardless, those who are high school football purists at heart recognize that Port Neches-Groves High School has few equals in community and school spirit.

“PN-G has a special spirit.  Pass it on!”
